Chris is a Partner at Singh, Singh & Trauben LLP where he helps head the firm’s transactional entertainments matters in the areas of recorded music; publishing; distribution; licensing; live shows and touring; merchandizing; sponsorships; endorsements; product integrations; and strategic partnerships. With a profound industry experience and network, Chris has represented Grammy and Billboard-award winning artists, producers, musicians, vocalist, writers, music publishers, private record and production companies, and global entertainment record and production companies.
Before joining Singh, Singh & Trauben LLP, Chris was head of Business and Legal Affairs at Universal Music’s division of Latin Entertainment (UMLE). During his time at UMLE Chris managed UMLE’s business and legal affairs strategies. He led the negotiations for Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” collaborations with Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber and Beyonce’s participation on J Balvin’s “Mi Gente”.
Chris received his Juris Doctorate degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law in Durham, NC. While completing his Juris Doctorate, Chris was co-chair of the Trial Advocacy Board and an executive of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. In addition, Chris competed in both Regional and National Trial Advocacy competitions, and was recognized by NCCU School of Law as one of its top Trial Advocates for 2008, 2009 and 2010. In 2010 Chris was among a select group of applicants selected to pursue an LL.M. post-doctoral degree in Entertainment and Media Law at Chapman University School of Law in Orange County, California.
Chris is a member of the California and Florida Bars.
Outside of law, music and entertainment, Chris is an avid boater and fisherman.
