Missy Elliott has signed with WME, The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard have exclusively learned. She was previously without an agency.
The move marks another significant step in the rap legend’s long-awaited comeback. With five platinum albums (including 2002’s double platinum Under Construction) and one gold under her belt, Elliott is currently at work on her seventh studio album.
Earlier this year she released Billboard Hot 100-charting single “I’m Better,” whose music video has notched more than 22.7 million views on YouTube.
The best-selling female rapper in Nielsen history (more than 30 million records in the United States alone) was a scene-stealing surprise guest at Katy Perry’s Super Bowl halftime show in 2015. After appearing in ads (for Amazon and Honda, respectively) in the following two Super Bowls, she returned to the stage for her first full-length set in the U.S. in nearly a decade, headlining one night of the FYF Fest in downtown Los Angeles last month.
Elliott has won four Grammys, 15 MTV Video Music Awards and countless BET Awards, including five for best female hip-hop artist. In 2015 she was Billboard Women in Music’s inaugural Innovator of the Year honoree.
Elliott continues to be represented by attorney Simran A. Singh of Singh, Singh & Trauben.
