Susana Gonzalez is an associate at Singh, Singh & Trauben, LLP and focuses on the areas of entertainment, media and intellectual property law. Ms. Gonzalez takes the lead in drafting and revising music-centered agreements, including recording and publishing agreements, as well as a variety of general industry agreements, such a services agreements and sponsorship agreements.
Ms. Gonzalez previously worked for Concord, the fifth largest music company in the world, servicing Concord’s music labels whose master recording portfolios feature over 273 GRAMMY winners and over 400 gold, platinum, multi-platinum, and diamond RIAA certifications across 215 titles. While at Concord, her main responsibilities included drafting deal proposals, producer and mixer agreements, and recording agreements, as well as defending Concord against all statutory copyright termination actions. Ms. Gonzalez also worked on Concord’s acquisition, management, and post-acquisition integration of recorded music and music publishing catalogs, including some of Concord’s historical labels like Fania and Musart.
Prior to Concord, Ms. Gonzalez started her career in entertainment at Warner Music Group (WMG), where she worked for its catalog division, Rhino Entertainment, and for its publishing company, Warner Chappell Music (WC). Ms. Gonzalez handled all of WMG’s live performance and theatrical licenses. She negotiated and drafted music license agreements for Broadway, Off-Broadway, and stock and amateur productions, which included The Cher Show, The Band’s Visit, the then-upcoming Broadway production of Moulin Rouge! and Cirque du Soleil productions. At WMG, Ms. Gonzalez also got extensive TV and internet music licensing experience, as she negotiated and drafted term sheets and music license agreements with and for major commercial broadcast television networks and film production companies, including for TV shows like The Voice (Season 14 and 15), Escape at Dannemora (Season 1), Netflix’s online series Ozark (Season 2).
Ms. Gonzalez is a native Spanish speaker, born and raised in Cuba, and licensed to practice law in California. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Ms. Gonzalez got her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
